1/18/2026(Sun) 2pm-5pm Modern Kintsugi Workshop by Emi Joyce

$70.00

Kintsugi is a Japanese craft practice that repairs ceramics by adding gold to cracks. Instead of hiding the damage, mended cracks are emphasized with gold. This idea is accepting our imperfections and seeing the beauty in our flaws. The traditional method requires special care with the materials, but the “modern” version is easier and ideal for beginners to get to know the basics. Since the materials used for repairs aren’t food safe, repaired items are only for display.

All necessary supplies will be provided, including a small broken ceramic vessel for practice.

You are welcome to bring a few damaged ceramics from home. The materials must be ceramic or porcelain and no glass or wood. Damaged family heirlooms or items broken into numerous pieces may be challenging to attempt for the first time. Instead, bring items that are easier and simpler.

Items must be glazed, cracks must be within four pieces, and chips must be within half an inch. The original size of the items must be within eight inches. Larger items are more challenging.

Please bring a cardboard box or a similar container that will allow you to transport your items home without touching the repaired parts.
